This piece, On the wings of an eagle, was made for the VWA Double Take in Wood Exhibition in 2017. It started as a sideboard with serrated ends, but as I designed it, the faceted, forms started to suggest the wings of a bird in flight, so i followed that idea. The geometric aesthetic of the sides morphs into a more organic form of the doors and drawers where the curved shape, use of contrasting timbers and book matched grain patterns reference a front view of an eagle without trying to mimic its exact features.
